Excellent progress

So far today, instead of editing my translation of book 24 of the Iliad, I have spent upwards of half an hour working out how to insert paragraph breaks in blog entries. But the glow of achievement is much the same.

As a first-time blogger, I feel like I’ve just got behind the wheel of a large and scary car; my feet don’t reach the pedals, and I’m not sure where the indicators are. Hopefully the consequences are minimal if I crash.
This blog is all about my journey into the wonderful world of classics (that is, broadly speaking, Greek and Latin language and literature, and certainly not classic cars or the strange English Lit definition of ‘classics’ which seems to start and end with Dickens). More specifically, it’s to keep me entertained while I put off revising for my end of year exams. I feel a whole new world of displacement activity opening up before me.
