Oooh, stationery!

I have just taken delivery of some splendid new stationery from Clairefontaine – a blue leather journal, and some A4 writing paper. I gather from the pen geeks out there that it’s one of the best papers for writing with a fountain pen; my Pelikan certainly seems to like it.

It’s interesting how the Pelikan logo has developed from the earliest version, which appears to reference the myth that the pelican feeds its young on its own blood, to the current equivalent, which just has a cute chick. While the modern appetite for myth is stronger than ever, we seem to have lost our taste for the earlier, grittier versions of the stories.
